The Baylor Symphony Orchestra won the American Prize for Orchestra Performance for an unprecedented 4-years in a row and recently performed at Bass Hall in Fort Worth, Texas.
The orchestra is featured in a nationally televised production of "A Baylor Christmas" that is broadcast on all 115 Gray Television stations, reaching 36 percent of the U.
S. population. Baylor orchestra students have performed at Carnegie Hall as winners of the School of Music's Semper Pro Musica competition, have won the school's annual concerto competition;
and our alumni play in military bands and orchestras, professional opera orchestras, professional symphony orchestras, and on Broadway.
The Baylor Symphony worked with many distinguished conductors, performers, and composers, including Robert Shaw, William Kraft, Lorin Hollander, Marvin Lamb, Steven Stucky, Corey Cerovsek, Giancarlo Guerrero, Colin Jacobson, John Sharp, Adrian Avila, and Nancy King, among others.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Conduct the Baylor Symphony Orchestra and oversee the health and success of all orchestral ensembles, including the Campus Orchestra and the Baylor Opera Theater Orchestra
- Provide administrative leadership of all orchestral activities, including a comprehensive vision for the program, budgeting, and leading collaborative artistic initiatives
- Maintain a national / international profile as a conductor and educator
- Actively assist in the recruiting process
- Lead the orchestral conducting graduate program
- Teach undergraduate / graduate courses in conducting and symphonic literature
- Collaborate with other School of Music faculty
- Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with orchestra musicians in schools and universities
- Contribute to the artistic and intellectual life of Baylor University and the School of Music
RANK AND SALARY :
Rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Doctorate in music or equivalent professional experience
- Distinguished record of orchestral conducting with national / international recognition
- Demonstrated record of innovation and creativity
- Demonstrated excellence in and commitment to teaching
- Experience in conducting an opera orchestra (desired)
- Proven administrative leadership of a comprehensive orchestral program
