WHAT YOU’LL DO
The quick overview
The Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly financials, work papers, journal entries, various accounting reports and reconciliations.
This opportunity offers excellent work-life balance, competitive compensation and great benefits. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in accounting and have experience in land development and / or residential construction.
The basics
- Perform quality, detailed work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
- Interact professionally with other employees, customers, etc.
- Work effectively in a team.
- Work independently while understanding the necessity for communication and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations. Nobody’s an island!
The nitty-gritty stuff
- Prepare monthly journal entries including cash receipts, sales entries, accruals and job cost allocations.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Prepare month end close including updating Work Papers, Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow.
- Performing analyses of budget to actual variances.
- Preparing various account reconciliations to tie work papers to general ledger.
- Assist with external auditor requests.
- Calculate and record loan interest.
- Manage fixed assets and quarterly depreciation.
- Monitor direct construction costs and job cost variances.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Bachelors in Accounting or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in Accounting, including industry experience.
- Proficient in Outlook, Word and Excel, including knowledge of macros and pivot tables.
- Possess a sold understanding of the general ledger.
- Experienced working with financial statements and supporting analysis.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Highly organized and detailed orientated.
- Desire to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
