The Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior consists of 38 faculty (Clinical and Research), 26 other academic positions, 34 residents, 9 fellows, 37 staff, and 52 volunteer faculty with an annual combined budget of clinical and research over $32M.

Responsibilities :

This position will oversee the administration and operations of medical education programs of the Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior, including a top-tier medical student clerkship, and nationally recognized residency and fellowship programs.

This role encompasses the management of teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, and the maintenance of databases, as well as ensuring learner compliance and program accreditation.

The position plays a critical role in developing, prioritizing, and implementing strategies to improve program quality, processes, and compliance.

This position will provide direct supervision to professionals and skilled technical employees within the education and training team.

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of the annual projected medical education budget, including financial management, monitoring expenses throughout the year, and aligning any changing priorities to the budget.

In addition, the individual will manage the education & training team to ensure the delivery of high-quality education and adherence to policies and accreditation standards.

This individual is required to collaborate and professionally communicate with a variety of stakeholders, offering you the opportunity to build a strong network and learn from diverse perspectives.

These stakeholders include residents, fellows, attending physicians, departmental leadership, and external organizations such as GME and ACGME.

The incumbent will ensure program compliance. This individual will work closely with the Department of Psychiatry’s Practice Manager and Ambulatory Care Supervisor and associated affiliates (e.

g., VA, CHOC) to ensure residents’ clinical experience is maximized and meeting the requirements regarding training, payroll, etc.

This position is pivotal in maintaining the excellence of the Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior's Medical Education division and ensuring that its programs continue to be recognized for their quality and impact in the field.

Qualifications : Required :

Required :

Knowledge of the health professions education industry, administrative analysis and operations research. Knowledge of assigned program requirements and curriculum.

Knowledge of department, organization, HR and university policies and processes. Current knowledge of relevant industry federal, state and local laws and regulations including national accrediting organizations and state and federal licensing and regulatory offices.

Demonstrated leadership skills in training and guiding employees on educational techniques. Motivates and inspires staff to improve the health profession education services.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment. Ability to organize assigned staff and unit operations in an efficient and effective manner.

Effective communication skills with peers, learners, faculty, and other education program coordinators / managers.

Skills to evaluate issues and identify solutions within defined procedures and policies. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through critical thinking process.

Verbal and written communication skills to explain technical health profession / education concepts, actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

At least 5 years of relevant experience

Preferred :

In-depth knowledge of educational software and technologies to promote a wide-range of teaching and learning goals.

Proven ability to recruit faculty and integrate learners which requires high-level planning and coordination skills, the ability to think strategically and communicate complex information to multiple stakeholders.

Master's degree in related area preferred
