Assistant Controller

This position will be responsible for overseeing individuals, processes and policies within the finance department. In addition, the position will perform key tasks on a routine basis to ensure accuracy and timely completion of financial reporting requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with internal controls and purpose changes when necessary.
• Assist with month-end closing procedures and preparation of monthly financial statements.
• Assist with preparation of schedules required for tax returns, annual GAAP audits, and other audits.
• Oversee monthly sales and use tax reporting / payment process.
• Maintain detailed liability schedules and perform quarterly reporting and remittances for sales-based product royalties.
• Maintain all schedules necessary to ensure accurate reporting of fixed assets.
• Reconcile all intercompany transactions on a monthly basis.
• Assist with standard costing updates and perform monthly inventory valuation reconciliations.
• Complete other tasks as assigned, in a timely manner.

Education and / or Experience

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experienced in leading a team and implementing process improvement.
• Good working knowledge of A / R & A / P transaction processing workflows
• Ability to routinely work on-site 40 hours per week and as necessary during the monthly period-end close process.
• Prior experience with intercompany accounting and standard costing is preferred
• Strong analytical / quantitative skills. Ability to develop action plans and follow-up to completion.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly with Excel and Teams.
• Strong managerial and organizational skills; accurate and detail-oriented, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with staff at various levels.
