Overview
This role focuses on packaging development and management to support Marketing, Product Development and Design initiatives, ensuring brand DNA, quality, cost and manufacturability standards are met.
Responsibilities
Brand Steward : Represent the culture and DNA of the brand or business segment being managed.Package Concept Feasibility : Drive innovation by presenting new packaging concepts, technologies and delivery systems to support new Marketing, Product Development and Design ideas. Search for applicable technologies to evaluate best practices and support product innovation. With senior development, provide a comprehensive feasibility of each concept defining function, manufacturability, component cost, tooling estimates, lead time, risk and global consistency.Project Management : Manage all aspects of the development process; package feasibility; packaging outline development; component / package costing specifications and technical profiles; supplier recommendation / selection; Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (Pre-Design Turnover and Post Business Award); tooling strategy; build value analysis into new development for cost efficiency, function and quality; ensure designs meet Estée Lauder engineering requirements; develop and implement package test plans; collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to define specifications and defect ranges; develop package specifications and validate technical drawings; ensure projects meet design, quality, cost, functionality and manufacturability objectives; ensure efficient production for components and assemblies; ensure packaging needs align with Brand, corporate, Regulatory and Environmental requirements; stay informed on materials, processes and procedures.Timeline Management : Provide detailed component timelines and manage package development tasks; support Global Brand Supply Chain (GBSC) and Global Supplier Relations (GSR) with development schedules and risk mitigation; identify and communicate risks or delays; establish workload priorities to meet due dates.Direct and Indirect Management : Coordinate with Marketing, Product Development, R&D and Design; work with Package Operations on outlines and artwork processes; collaborate with GBSC and GSR to manage project development and risk analysis; build relationships with Global Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering.Qualifications
Education / Certification : Minimum BS degree in Packaging Science or Engineering. CIPT or IOPP certification.Direct Experience : 5+ years in cosmetic package development; experience in beauty or related industry with proven development experience.Technical : Proficiency in Unique Package Definition Systems, MS Excel, Word, Outlook and timeline management; strong 2D / 3D geometric analysis (clearances, fit and finish); knowledge of packaging materials and manufacturing processes (injection molding, extrusion, metal forming, glass forming, vacuum forming, dispensing systems, folding cartons and rigid boxes); knowledge of decorating techniques and test methods for packaging validation.Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 to $115,000.00. Exact salary depends on experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary may vary by geographic location. Eligible for a bonus program based on performance and company results.
