The Department of Corrections, Division of Administration and Support, is recruiting for a Procurement Specialist 1, located in Anchorage, Alaska.

What you will be doing :
This position is an entry-level procurement position which, under supervision, performs informal and formal procurement activities for professional services, non-professional services, and commodities to support the Department of Corrections.
This position determines appropriate procurement methods, conducts solicitations, negotiates contract terms and conditions, evaluates, and awards a variety of contracts.

Our office is located in the Robert B. Atwood Building in downtown Anchorage. The work environment is collaborative and customer service-oriented.
Our Procurement Team works as a tight-knit group that values each other's contributions. This position will interface daily with a variety of people, including staff, field offices, other managers, directors, other executives, and vendors.

- Some knowledge of policies and procedures used in large-scale organizations covering purchasing and property control;
- Ability to analyze facts and documents accurately, determine which of a number of requirements or procedures apply, and apply them to the facts and circumstances;
- Ability to read and comprehend statutes, regulations, policy and procedure guides and manuals, contracts, etc.;
- Ability to deal tactfully with the public, vendors, and managers while maintaining effective working relationships;
- Ability to write clearly and concisely to develop and complete documents, memoranda, and correspondence relating to procurement.

Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and / or experience in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, project management, or a related field performing property control, purchasing, contract administration, writing or approving solicitations, explaining contracting requirements, developing or approving product specifications or, developing or approving a scope of work for para-professional and / or professional services.

S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution.
It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT
