JOB SUMMARY
The Program Manager, Recruitment & Retention Graphic Designer will create graphic design materials that support major districtwide efforts aimed at attracting, retaining, and developing human talent, elevating the brand and message of Houston ISD as a whole.
This includes developing designs for campaigns targeting both prospective and current employees. Working cross-functionally, the Program Manager will produce graphics for presentations, websites, print publications, and others, ensuring cohesive branding across recruitment initiatives and internal personnel assets related to talent acquisition, retention, and development.
The role offers creative freedom within design parameters set by campaign objectives and district objectives.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manages design projects as assigned , translating communication objectives into creative concepts, including recruitment, retention, and development materials, employee handbooks, compensation plans, work calendars, and other marketing assets related to the employee lifecycle.
Develops visual communications, ensuring that all designs align with and reflect the vision of the business owners. Ensures that the design work is accurate (requiring minimal revisions), visually compelling, and consistent with the District’s goals.
2. Stays informed of and implements industry trends, legalities, and best practices for recruitment,retention, and development related design, contributing to effective visual content for HISD campaigns.
Attends recruitment and other events as directed to assess and improve effectiveness of HISD visual presentations, tools, etc.

3. Tailors messaging and design to support various HISD employee groups. Provides guidelines as needed to staff for requesting marketing and communication materials.
Maintains communication with recruiters and other business partners to understand their challenges and opportunities, providing graphic design support to best meet their goals and address gaps.
4. Creates graphics for presentations, websites, print publications, and other formats, ensuring all materials meet internal and external needs for attracting, retaining, and developing world-class talent for HISD.
5. Performs other related job duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, or a related field.*
Certifications in graphic design tools and software (such as Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.
or digital marketing can be a plus.

WORK EXPERIENCE
5 to 7 years as a graphic designer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in both digital and print media.*
Graphic design and recruitment experience for K-12 school districts is preferred.

SKILL AND / OR REQUIRED LICENSING / CERTIFICATION
Microsoft Office
Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)
Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) for designing digital and print materials
Strong understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and composition
Ability to create and maintain cohesive branding across multiple channels and mediums
Experience designing for various formats, including websites, social media, presentations, print publications, brochures, flyers, etc.
Ability to enhance visuals and create compelling, custom graphics (images, icons, etc.) for campaign materials
Familiarity with preparing files for professional printing and ensuring high-quality output
Basic understanding of HTML / CSS or working with web content management systems (CMS) for online materials (optional but beneficial)
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities or oversee the work of others.

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
Ability to travel to schools thought the district. Prolonged or irregular hours, including some weekends; frequent districtwide travel.
Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress, fast-paced.
