About Our Job

The Denver Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Executive Assistant to support the Investigative Support Division.

This position supports the command staff for the Investigative Support Division to the Executive Director of Safety who is responsible for leading the Department of Safety.

The Investigative Support Division encompasses the Vice / Drug Bureau, Gang Bureau, Special Operations, and Special Investigations.

Location : Police Administrative Building 1331 Cherokee St, Denver, CO 80204

Flexible schedule that consists of a Monday-Friday work week. However, this position is not remote, nor will it become so.

Job responsibilities include :

  • Answering phone calls daily, providing information to customers and departments; screens telephone calls, transfers calls, takes messages, and the timely return of telephone calls as necessary;
  • Takes on added responsibilities when requested, completes multiple work assignments on time, learns new skills to enhance own work, and teaches others;
  • Develops short documents to summarize non-technical information and prepares correspondence in response to inquiries for information;

Communicates with representatives of various city agencies, community / business groups, the public, an / or other stakeholders regarding issues / concerns of major significance and chairs and / or participates on task forces in order to support multi-level management.

  • Organizes, monitors, prepares, tracks, updates, and compiles complex internal and external documents and data; organizes and maintains information;
  • keeps advised of the current status of any relevant work of the Investigative Support Division and the Commander's Office, and anticipates the Commander's needs by gathering records, reports, correspondence, statistics, or other specific types of information;

maintains calendars, arranges and coordinates appointments, meetings, and conferences, and contacts the appropriate individuals as needed.

When appropriate, briefs the Commander on subject matter for upcoming meetings or events.

  • Creates and prepares spreadsheets that assist with documentation; recommends policies or practices within the scope of responsibility;
  • assist with establishing office procedures and methods using standard systems; explains and defends office policies and procedures to a variety of internal and external customers;

maintains, edits, and reviews policies and procedures for grammatical structure and consistency; and types of documents and distributes updates.

Maintain office inventory and coordinate the weekly purchase of supply requests including general office supplies and paper.

Process special supply requests as approved by the Investigative Support Division. Coordinate the specialized ordering of forms, and annual purchases of supplies.

Collect and dissimilate the inter-departmental mail to all appropriate units throughout the Investigative Support Division.

The ideal candidate will have :

Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint;

Extremely high level of integrity

Previous experience crafting PowerPoint presentations for Executive Staff

Great organization skills

Written and oral communication skills

Below are the minimum requirements used to determine eligibility for this position :

Education requirement : Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

Experience Requirement : Three (3) years of clerical or office support work experience that includes two years of specialized / technical experience.

Education / Experience Equivalency : Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

License / Certifications : None
