IT Hosting Engineer - Senior or Mid-level

Talen Energy is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer (Senior or Mid-level) that will be responsible for the implementation of technical solutions to fulfill business requirements using best practices and in accordance with standards and engineering methodology.

The IT Hosting Engineer analyzes and resolves complex issues related to both private and public cloud infrastructure engineering and operations, system software, storage management, backup methodology, virtualization, monitoring and management tools, business continuity, high availability solutions, database management, and cloud services estimates.

Implements both private and public cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions. Analyzes, coordinates, and implements infrastructure projects.

Monitors system performance and capacity, provides periodic system status reports to department management, and offers proactive remediation.

Analyzes reports to identify trends and opportunities for process and technology enhancements, coordinating system enhancements with the architectural team.

Reviews proposed designs and architectures, identifying risks and providing remediation recommendations in line with established standards and the enterprise’s overall architecture.

Deploys and maintains hyperconverged systems and solutions in a hybrid cloud environment.

Manages and supports Windows, Linux, AWS, & VMware infrastructure.

Administers and supports the backup and recovery infrastructure.

Administers and manages database systems ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.

Develops support plan with key IT stakeholders.

Manages services, incidents, and changes through request ticket management.

Provides on-call and after-hours support to address incidents, maintain infrastructure, and support operational efforts.

COLLABORATE :

Works with architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to analyze requirements and design technical solutions to meet various healthcare and research community needs.

Conducts advanced research on new technologies and techniques, providing recommendations and roadmaps for implementation.

Recommends appropriate technologies for the technology domain(s) within the scope of responsibility.

Works closely with network, security, development, application, and support teams in the implementation of infrastructure components that support emerging technologies and applications.

Mentors and develops more junior-level infrastructure engineers.

Education and Experience - Infrastructure Engineer :

H.S. Diploma / GED (Required).

Bachelor's Degree (Preferred).

5+ years of Information Technology experience (Required).

2+ years of public and private cloud engineering experience (Required).

Strong experience with Linux and AWS (Required).

Database Mgt. Experience is a Huge Bonus

Skills & Abilities - Senior Infrastructure Engineer :

Solid understanding of information systems infrastructure and application capabilities.

Ability to troubleshoot, research, and solve technically challenging problems.

Ability to communicate with internal and external constituents.

Demonstrated customer service skills.

Demonstrated interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Experience collaboratively analyzing requirements, designing, and implementing technical solutions across both private and public cloud technology spectrums.

Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure involving significant differences in technologies, techniques, procedures, environmental factors, physical demands, or work situations.

Ability to maintain relationships that facilitate task accomplishment; to cooperate and resolve conflicts; to recognize needs and be sensitive to others.

This position can be worked as a Hybrid Role - There will be occasional onsite visits to Allentown and our Susquehanna plant for operational Support , Projects, and Team Collaboration.

The position requires the ability to maintain nuclear industry Security Clearances.
