The Virginian is recruiting for a Dining Room Supervisor , this position is responsible for being the initial Food and Beverage leader for several of a main dinning venues.
This role will verify schedules, check deliveries, and carry the Food and Beverage department cell phone. Provides coverage for any area / server station in the absence of scheduled dinning staff.
Essential Job Duties :
- In the absence of the Dining Room Manager, supervises the physical appearance of the dining room area and server stations including table pedestals, table place settings, chairs, floors, drapes and lighting.
- Coordinates the seating of the residents and guests in an efficient, courteous manner.
- Schedules stations and work assignments for the wait staff and check out servers to make sure standards are met.
- Records meal counts, reservations and additional charges. Complete knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Confers with Dining Room Manager regarding dining room status.
- Confers with Executive Chef and Director of Food & Beverage regarding any food, staffing or service issues.
- Makes morning rounds of Market, Dietary and Kitchen to check staff levels.
- Provides coffee services for Residents' events and Administration.
Additional Duties :
- Cross-trained with dietary aides.
- Reports damage on broken equipment to Food & Beverage Director.
- Waits tables and provides beverage and bar services as needed.
- Participates in cost control measures.
- Participates in food or beverage inventories as needed.
- Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications :
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- A minimum of one year Host / Hostess or Lead Server experience within fine restaurant, club, hotel or similar institution.
- Available 7 days a week with a primary schedule of 8 : 00 a.m. to 3 : 30 p.m.
- Ability to interpret and explain menu, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understand requests.
- Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with, and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors and subordinates.
- State applicable health and / or alcohol compliance card required.
Compensation :
$60.000-$70,000 annual salary with great benefits!
