Position Summary

The Environmental Manager is primarily responsible for the effectiveness of all corporate environmental programs and policies by leveraging a thorough knowledge of environmental rules and regulations.

To accomplish this the Environmental Manager will effectively lead and manage a team of environmental engineers who are responsible for the implementation of such programs and policies, and will contribute to the development, implementation, and management of such programs and policies using both strategic and tactical execution.

This position will report to the Director of Environmental and will be in downtown Houston, TX. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee the development, implementation and management of environmental corporate programs and policies
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in environmental programs, policies and processes; make recommendations to environmental and Chord leadership to implement changes
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, management and communication of environmental departmental goals and focus to Chord leadership using metrics and key performance indicators to measure environmental performance
  • Identify risks, track environmental liabilities & compliance concerns directly and through subordinates; ensure that such items are effectively and routinely communicated to environmental and Chord leadership
  • Manage Due Diligence related to environmental compliance for possible merger and acquisition activities
  • Assume a leadership role in critical environmental technical and managerial projects
  • Hire, manage, mentor and develop multi-function environmental team
  • Develop, implement and manage department performance system to optimize employee utilization and satisfaction

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or High School Diploma / GED plus equivalent experience
  • Must understand have an expert understanding of relevant environmental regulations
  • Must be able to effectively lead others
  • Must possess effective analytical, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to manage several programs and projects simultaneously, and execute tasks effectively
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, superiors, vendors, and regulators
  • Must be willing to travel at least 25% of the time
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions : Must possess the ability to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, files, telephone, and fax;
  • maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone;
  • must be able to handle exposure to extreme weather conditions and areas where hazardous chemicals are present, lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, kneel, stoop, sit and walk extensively;

must be able to complete a post-offer / pre-employment drug screen, background check, physical and be able to meet all physical requirements of the job

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years of related experience
  • Possesses basic working knowledge of oil and gas exploration and production technologies, including production process and equipment
  • Have advanced mathematical, science and analytical abilities
  • Experience working ACTS Database or similar EHS relational compliance database
  • Experience working with SQL Management Studio
  • Experience working with data visualization software
