Job Overview :
A law firm seeks a seasoned Criminal Defense Attorney with at least five years of experience to join its dynamic team in Chandler, AZ.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for representing clients in criminal defense cases, with a strong background in self-defense, jury trials, and appellate matters.
The attorney must be licensed to practice in Arizona and should be comfortable with public speaking and litigation in both local and national courts.
Duties :
- Represent clients in various stages of criminal defense cases, including hearings, plea negotiations, and trials.
- Conduct thorough legal research, draft motions, and review discovery materials.
- Meet with potential clients to assess new criminal defense cases.
- Analyze case law and make strategic recommendations.
- Engage in networking opportunities to support firm growth and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues on cases in other practice areas, including civil rights, personal injury, and commercial litigation.
Requirements :
- Licensed to practice law in Arizona.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in criminal defense, with an emphasis on self-defense cases, jury trials, and appellate work.
- In-depth knowledge of Arizona state and local laws, including discovery and disclosure rules.
- Willingness to practice law at a national level, if necessary.
Education :
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Certifications :
Active Arizona Bar license in good standing.
Skills :
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word.
- Strong oral and written communication abilities.
- Excellent analytical and legal research skills.
- Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
- Confident public speaking, including comfort with media appearances.
