The National Office staff supports 148 regions (chapters) and national programs in a variety of ways : processing memberships, planning events, bringing support to driving, racing, and educational programs, producing a monthly magazine, and much more.
POSITION SUMMARY :
The Senior Financial Accountant / Analyst will perform complex general ledger and financial reporting processes within the accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and inventory functions using QuickBooks software.
The position will work directly with the Comptroller. Confidentiality is essential and a background check will be required. PCA is a 501(c)7 nonprofit.
Location : PCA National Office is located in Columbia, MD.
Responsibilities / Essential Duties :
- Prepare segment financial statements, analysis, and notes.
- Work with segment leaders and key people to prepare and explain annual budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense transactions into QuickBooks.
- Process monthly advertising invoices and collection recordings.
- Prepare monthly bank account and general ledger reconciliation.
- Process expense reports and vendor payments in a timely manner.
- File quarterly MD sales tax
- Respond to audit and regulatory tax requests as needed.
Qualifications :
- In-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with a minimum of 2 3 years of financial accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related finance field required. CPA or MBA in Finance preferred.
- Advanced MS Excel skills with emphasis on financial statement workbook modeling.
- Proficient in using QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills
