Job Summary
The Field Engineer - Electrical is responsible for overseeing operations within the applicable discipline and providing field engineering support with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover.
Supports the Project Field Engineer, Superintendents, craft, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and contractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
Reports to Project Field Engineer for daily scheduled work priorities, and your work will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Major Responsibilities :
Work Planning & Packaging
- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Interfaces in planning construction methods and procedures.
Material Management
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases
- Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
Quantities
Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
Safety / Quality Control
Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
Technical
Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities
System Turnover Coordinator
For Direct Hire
Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
STR / Subcontract Coordinator
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans
- Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
Education and Experience Requirements :
Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills :
- Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities : extensive walking in and around a construction site, walking on uneven surfaces.
- Basic knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means and methods.
- Basic knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
- Prior SetRoute / Smart Completions experience an asset.
- Basic knowledge of electrical commodity and equipment installation including : cable pulling, terminations, and underground direct bury cable installation.
- Prior GIS experience an asset.
