Job Description : The Compliance Officer supports the implementation and maintenance of a coordinated and integrated Compliance Program at Intermountain Health.

This position demonstrates an understanding of the regulations that govern healthcare and works to ensure compliance with those regulations.

This position investigates issues, provides education and information, assesses risks, and monitors outcomes at the care site / share services area.

This position is accountable to implement Compliance & Ethics monitoring and auditing activities using established processes and professional judgement at assigned care sites or shared services area.

This position supports Intermountain's Desert Region (Southern Utah and Nevada) Medical Group. The role is hybrid and will require travel to the region, if the candidate is not located in Southern Utah or Nevada (approximately 20-25% of the time).

Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states : CA, CT, HI, IL, NY, RI, VT, and WA.Essential FunctionsLeads complex investigations and projects within assigned care sites or shared services areas including those with attorney-client privilegeEstablishes and maintains effective relationships and communication channels with internal and external stakeholders.

Promotes effective mechanisms to encourage a culture of compliance and reporting.Evaluates and identifies risks and supports corrective action plans across a broad portfolio of care sites, service lines, or geographies.

Leads or participates in implementation of regulatory requirements through projects and assignments.Coordinates with Revenue Cycle on external government compliance audits and investigations, and if directed, coordinates with legal counsel at assigned care sites.

Identifies potential compliance vulnerabilities through various methods, including risk assessment, auditing, and ongoing monitoring.

Escalates high-risk compliance issues. Assists with developing and / or implementing corrective action plans for the resolution of problematic issues.

Tracks compliance issue trends reported, identifies care site vulnerabilities, and provides input to the Compliance Work Plan.

Executes vision and multiple strategic priorities. Links day-to-day compliance activities to strategic objectives / priorities.

Supports the implementation of Intermountain’s HIPAA Privacy Program, privacy audits and investigations, including Office for Civil Rights privacy complaints.

Delivers compliance program education to applicable audiences.Promotes a culture of compliance and ethics and reduces Intermountain's risk of Government audits, fines, penalties and sanctions through close coordination with Compliance Department leadership.

Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration or relative field preferred. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution.

Education is verifiedDemonstrated professional-level experience in a regulatory, compliance or risk management role in the healthcare sector.

Demonstrates expert level knowledge and understanding of federal and state laws and regulations related to health care billing, coding, reimbursement, contracting, and risk adjustment, such as Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and MACRA.

Ability to interpret and apply complex healthcare regulations in a healthcare system and to assess and evaluate gaps with demonstrated knowledge of the healthcare industry.

Demonstrates strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Demonstrated discretion to maintain confidential information, evaluate alternatives, and make effective decisions.Demonstrated experience implementing the eight elements of an effective compliance program.

Demonstrates high ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism, with a commitment to Intermountain Health's mission, vision, values, and compliance framework.

Physical Requirements : Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.

Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.

Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.For roles requiring driving : Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

This is an exempt, full-time position. Pay offers are determined by prior years of relevant experience within the established pay range.

In addition to the annual salary, to show our commitment to you and assist with your transition into our organization, we may offer a sign-on and relocation bonus when applicable.

With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity.

The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.
