Sr. Data Center Technician

Monday-Friday 8-5pm CST
Project Overview : We are seeking a dedicated Data Center Technician for a critical initiative aimed at replacing our client’s PDUs across multiple sites in Austin, TX.
This project is a high-priority task that we aim to complete before February, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities :
- PDU Replacement : Replace and swap client’s PDUs with new units capable of handling higher computing power. This involves heavy lifting and traveling to different sites.
- Amberlight Monitoring : Utilize Amberlight to monitor equipment status (green / yellow / red indicators). Diagnose issues by plugging in and submitting tickets for resolution.
Ensure all amberlight issues in a rack are resolved before replacing PDUs.
- Collaboration : Work closely with operations and onsite support teams to resolve issues. Use Nlyte for remote diagnostics and documentation.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate records of diagnostics, replacements, and resolutions.
Day-to-Day Activities :
- Collaborate with operations and onsite support teams to address and resolve amberlight issues.
- Use Nlyte for remote access and diagnostics, with some tasks requiring in-person intervention.
- Document all findings and actions taken.
- Perform PDU replacements and swaps, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Required Skills and Experience :
- 5+ years in a Data Center environment, ideally with a larger environment
- General knowledge of network, compute, and storage systems, including their interconnections and dependencies.
- Understanding of Amberlight warnings and experience working in a data center environment is a plus.
- Previous experience with rack and stack operations.
- Proficiency in maintaining detailed documentation.
- Familiarity with Nlyte and ServiceNow (SNOW) platforms, or similar tools, is a plus.
- Experience working in high-visibility environments, demonstrating ability to handle a variety of scenarios and technical competence.
- Ability to travel between sites as needed.
