Grant Project Event Coordinator

Department of Tribal Health

Hourly Wage : $26.94 / Regular / Full-Time

The Event Coordinator provides prevention and outreach services to Yakama Nation (YN) communities in alignment with the goals and objectives of the grant project.

The coordinator will support care coordination and plan, develop, organize, coordinate, and implement educational, recreational, social, and cultural events aimed at mitigating the opioid crisis on the YN reservation and surrounding areas.

Examples of Work Performed :

Plan and execute community events, workshops, and educational activities.

Organize recreational and cultural events that promote healthy living and opioid use prevention.

Collaborate with community members, stakeholders, and organizations to ensure events are culturally relevant and meet the needs of the community.

Support care coordination by linking individuals and families to resources and services.

Develop outreach strategies to engage YN communities in grant initiatives.

Track and report progress towards grant goals and objectives.

Influence the Tribal Health staff to cultivate staff participation in internal and outreach events.

Coordinate with all programs and departments on organizational master calendar.

Coordinate staffing coverage of all events, internal and outreach.

Represent organization at roughly 2-4 outreach events per quarter.

Cover internal and outreach events on social media in partnership with other Tribal Programs and community partners.

Build and manage event database in coordination with Opioid Training Specialists and Project Manager.

Coordinate with program teams for social media coverage of program-specific outreach events.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

Event Planning and Coordination : Understanding of the principles and practices involved in planning, organizing, and executing events, including logistics, budgeting, and time management.

Community Outreach and Engagement : Familiarity with outreach strategies, particularly in culturally diverse or underserved communities, like the Yakama Nation.

Substance Use Prevention Strategies : Knowledge of opioid use prevention and public health initiatives, particularly as they relate to grant goals.

Cultural Competence : Awareness of Yakama Nation cultural values, traditions, and social dynamics, ensuring that events are culturally appropriate and respectful.

Communication Strategies : Understanding of effective communication techniques for promoting events and ensuring community involvement.

Organizational Skills : Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple tasks and events simultaneously, meeting deadlines and managing time efficiently.

Communication Skills : Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse groups, writing event materials, and promoting events.

Interpersonal Skills : Strong ability to build relationships with community members, stakeholders, and partners, maintaining positive and effective collaborations.

Adaptability : Ability to remain flexible and respond quickly to changes or challenges during event planning and execution.

Team Collaboration : Work effectively with a team, supporting colleagues and stakeholders in the event coordination process.

Attention to Detail : Ability to ensure all event components are thoroughly planned and executed, from logistics to participant engagement.

Public Speaking : Comfort and skill in addressing groups to promote events, educate the community, or facilitate workshops.

Creativity : Ability to think creatively to design unique and engaging events that resonate with the

community and meet outreach objectives.

Minimum Requirements :

Bachelor's degree, or Associate's degree with 3 years of relevant outreach experience within YN

communities.

Knowledge of the YN communities and opioid crisis prevention strategies.

Must uphold strict

Must possess First Aid / CPR card or ability to obtain on within three months of hire.

Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.

Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

Preferred Requirements :

Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
