Title : Assistant Coach, Swimming & DivingDepartment : AthleticsDuration : IndefiniteEmployment Status : 40 hours per week for 10 monthsJob SummaryReporting to the Head Coach, this role is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the program, to include, but not limited to;

on-court / field coaching in practices / matches / games / competitions, conditioning, contest preparation, scouting, practice planning and execution, supervision of team travel, and monitoring the personal, academic and athletic development of student athletes in their program.

A key area of responsibility is to assist in the implementation of the program's recruiting plan to attract student-athletes with strong character and an academic profile that aligns with the mission of Occidental College and Occidental Athletics.

Job Duties 50% - Coaching practice execution, contest preparation, help manage program equipment and gear, and supervision of team travel.

  • Essential)25% - Recruiting helping to execute an effective recruiting plan, including working collaboratively with the Admission’s office.
  • Essential)25% - Developing Student-Athletes - support the academic and personal growth of student-athletes. - (Essential) Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GEDOne year of competitive experience as a coach.

Demonstrated commitment to the academic achievement of student athletes.Knowledge and / or application of rules and regulations of SCIAC Conference and the NCAA Division III.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives / folders / forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.

Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.

Strong commitment to a quality work product.Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.

Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion & diversity.

Demonstrated skill in adapting to and performing work effectively in high-volume, high accountability, confidential environment with multiple and changing priorities.

Effective organizational, logistical, time management and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks / projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner.

Ability to self-motivate and work independently.Ability to provide effective leadership and training, and to work effectively and professionally across functions, disciplines, levels, and with diverse groups.

Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in athletics, sports management, training, or other fields related to position responsibilities.

Three years of college coaching experience. EXPECTED HIRING RANGE : $ $57, / yrIf you are offered this position at Occidental College, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and / or geographic location.

In addition to those factors, Occidental complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer.

Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
