ENGINEERING CONSULTANT - SEEKING AP EXPERTISE - HYBRID / ONSITE
THE RIGHT STAFF has partnered with a leader in the engineering industry in their search for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join their accounting team on a full-time basis.
We are seeking a skilled Accounts Payable Specialist to take ownership of our client's entire accounts payable process. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate, timely processing of invoices and payments, while maintaining strong relationships with vendors and supporting accurate financial reporting.
Essential Job Duties :
- Review and handle invoices for overhead costs, equipment, subcontracts, and other services, adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Utilize the purchasing system to verify that invoices align with purchase orders, collaborating closely with the purchasing team to resolve any discrepancies.
- Accurately code invoices to the general ledger to ensure reliable financial reporting.
- Apply and verify sales and use taxes on overhead and non-resale purchases and confirm sales tax exemptions on purchases for resale.
- Post invoices daily to ensure timely and accurate project and financial reporting.
- Process weekly accounts payable and refund checks and handle occasional urgent payments. Record ACH and wire payments as they occur.
- Conduct monthly reviews of the accounts payable aging list, identifying unused credits and any outstanding invoices.
- Assist with the preparation of year-end 1099 forms.
- Apply basic accounting knowledge to make journal entries and correct accounts payable transactions as needed.
Minimum Requirements :
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in business, accounting, or related field preferred.
- At least 3 years of accounts payable experience, including coding and processing invoices for multiple entities.
- A solid understanding of basic accounting principles and the ability to post journal entries are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with accounting software systems. Strong ten-key and keyboarding skills are highly preferred.
Position Benefits, Pay, & Schedule :
- Hourly pay is $23 to $25 / hr., depending on experience.
- Office located in Eden Prairie, MN.
- Hybrid / onsite work schedule.
- Schedule is Monday to Friday - 8 am to 5 pm w / some flexibility.
- Contract-to-hire / direct-hire opportunity.
