POSIITON HIGHLIGHTS
- Maintains Medical Center fan systems HVAC filters and portable air filtration systems.
- Maintain and repair utility systems, both inside and outside the Medical Center under the technical direction of a journey worker.
- Perform semi-skilled maintenance work on buildings, fixtures, equipment, grounds, walks, and driveways; cleaning roofs and gutters;
maintaining tunnel passages, and mechanical spaces.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- May assist journeyman in activities such as new equipment installation / service and involved repairs.
- Clean, service, and adjust tools and equipment; operate power tools and equipment, such as standard power tools, rotohammer, powder actuated tools.
- May do job planning for routine maintenance projects;
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Assists in constructing containment for dust mitigation and follow infection control procedures.
- Load and unload trucks and move furniture, equipment, supplies and materials; assemble new furniture.
- Assists with organization and cleanliness of mechanical spaces.
- Assists in constructing containment for dust mitigation and follow infection control procedures.
- Conducts routine water testing for heating and cooling water systems.
- Maintains and repairs lighting fixtures, ballasts and lamps.
- Routinely documents repairs, maintenance and readings to maintain departmental records.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduation or GED equivalent; OR, six month’s full-time related vocational study or training; OR, six months’ applicable work experience;
AND, one year’s full-time experience as a helper in building and equipment maintenance, construction, repair work, or equivalent.
Equivalent education / experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license / certification / registration.
Examination Requirements
The examination (including written, E & T and oral components) will consist of a scored evaluation of the applicant’s experience in mechanical maintenance work;
ability to perform demanding physical labor; knowledge of mechanical maintenance and repair techniques; ability to perform general mechanical maintenance and repair of buildings, machinery and equipment.
