Description The Underwriting Consultant is responsible for managing financial analysis and new business and renewal underwriting (risk assessment and pricing) for large group customers.

They will appropriately apply underwriting risk and pricing guidelines to project future costs and develop pricing decisions for existing accounts as well as new business prospects.

This role will communicate and explain rationale of pricing decision to Medica Sales; work with them to develop renewal strategies for clients that meet customer objectives and Medica's financial and group retention goals.

Demonstrate sound business judgment and confident decision making. In addition, the Underwriting Consultant will complete various actuarial and macro financial analyses for various subsets of Medica's business and develop and communicate analysis results and pricing policies.

The Underwriting Consultant will develop understanding of marketplace competitors (their data format and definitions, products, networks, strengths and weaknesses).

Qualifications : Complete working knowledge and skill with ability to be fully proficient in professional field Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required 5 years of underwriting experience;

strongly preferred within the healthcare industry Large group pricing experience preferred Proficient working with Microsoft Excel Excellent written and verbal communication skills Skills and Abilities : Strong relationship building, communication, and organization skills Proven ability to work cross-functionally required Pricing and RFP experience This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the Madison WI, or Minnetonka office, MN for applicable heads-up work.

Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership. The full salary range for this position is $75,300 -$129,000.

Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and / or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data.

In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
