Training Specialist
ROLE
We need an experienced Training Specialist to support the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) National Training Center (NTC).
As a Training Specialist, you would be responsible for organizing and delivering various training programs, workshops, and events, while recommending improvements to content and methods.
They will apply specialized techniques to resolve nonstandard technical issues, often coordinating with others to address these challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research new training policies, techniques, and methods
- Check, sort, and forward emails
- Prepare outgoing mail by drafting correspondence, securing parcels etc.
- Research and develop training modules or segments of larger training programs (assisted by SME’s or Sr. Specialists)
- Prepare materials, outlines, and storyboards from existing course materials
- Collaborate with various organizational levels of BLM, outside agencies / bureaus, contractors, universities, and the public
- Use and assist with WebEx sessions and other current technology applications / mediums
- Develop online and / or web-based training material and meet distance-learning objectives
- Monitor and evaluate student and instructor performance through classroom observation and field exercises
- Conduct post-course evaluations to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of training courses and return on investment
- Prepare and review detailed evaluation reports
- Prepare and conduct training needs surveys and assessments
- Review, compile and summarize data
- Assist higher-level specialists in analyzing a wide range of training practices, requirements, and procedures
- Facilitate and manage meetings around multiple topics and subject matter
- Organize / facilitate instructor led and online or distance learning training programs and courses
- Respond to requests for information and inquiries regarding available training
- Monitor and track training supply inventory
- Distribute pre-course training materials to training participants and review completed pre-course assignments
- Prepare course materials, equipment, and classroom in advance of training
- Maintain physical and electronic course filing system and applicable training files
- Contact subject matter experts to secure instructors and obtain information to meet specific training needs
- Schedule and coordinate workshops for NTC instructors
- Coach instructors in specific training techniques based on NTC standards
- Facilitate workgroups and meetings focused on instructional design and delivery
- Develop meeting objectives and agendas, and coordinate group activities
- Provide logistics for training activities including travel, venues, and equipment
- Assist in the development of new training products and services for instructor led and online or distance learning courses
- May independently analyze short courses / modules or portions of longer courses
- Provide feedback and make recommendations to higher-level specialists and / or supervisor on training needs / changes
- Additional administrative duties as assigned, within the NTC
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with office machines (e.g., fax, printer etc.)
- Knowledge of office management and basic bookkeeping
- Strong communication and people skills
- Good organizational and multi-tasking abilities
- Problem-solving skills
- Customer service orientation
- Intermediate skill level in SharePoint to create and add content to sites and pages.
- Intermediate skill level in Microsoft 365; Teams, SharePoint, Outlook Calendar and Email
- Intermediate to expert skill in facilitation of meetings and note taking
- Ability to track and monitor next actions and communicate effectively via email to keep projects on track
- Intermediate skill in the use of Microsoft Excel to include the creation of functions, charts, and data management

Bachelor’s degree preferred

- Must be able to pass a National Agency Check Inquiry (NACI) to be able to access government computer systems

Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time;
frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc.
Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.
