Summary of the Job :

Position Overview : Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Special Assets Group (SAG). Manage the Bank’s high-risk loan portfolios with emphasis on the reduction of non-earning assets or those in litigation including decisions within the Bank’s delegated authority and coordinates approvals and submission to FNBO SAG and FNNI SAG Loan Committee on loans exceeding authorities.

Provide direct leadership in the management of high-risk loan portfolios in Commercial Credit portfolio segments, including multi-lender and syndicated credit facilities.

Provide counseling to Corporate & Commercial Teams on loan structure, terms and conditions, pricing and documentation for loans with significant credit weakness or high risk.

Provide strategic leadership and direction to the management of high-risk loan portfolios in consumer and small business portfolios.

About This Role :

Duties and Responsibilities

Leads the Special Assets Group in managing high-risk loan portfolios including large corporate and mid-sized commercial agribusiness, C&I and CRE.

Team will work through the correction processes, including bankruptcy and litigation, restructuring, borrower counseling and / or collection, liquidation and asset recovery with emphasis on the reduction of high risk and / or non-earning assets in accordance with policies and procedures resulting in the greatest net return / best business decision.

  • Provides Strategic direction to the small business collections to manage the high-risk loan portfolio.
  • Assesses evolving market conditions and the current portfolio to recommend adjustments and provide thought leadership working with the bank SME’s.
  • Aligns resources required, internal and external, to manage high-risk loan portfolios. Manages internal and external legal counsel relationships and resources utilized in settlement of loans in bankruptcy or litigation to minimize liability as a participant, agent or direct lender in transactions.
  • Make recommendations on loans exceeding authority.
  • Ensure compliance with settlement laws and procedures, including borrower rights and regulations.
  • Achieve satisfactory credit administration and credit quality goals for assigned portfolio.
  • REPORTINGDevelop, maintain, monitor and report on assigned portfolio, including credit classification changes and accrual / stop accrual analysis.

Analyze reports monitoring team performance, including designing advanced efficiency and collection cost reporting for large commercial loans, producer portfolios, and term loan portfolios.

Monitor loan performance on assigned portfolio. Provide timely, efficient service to all internal and external customers.

Proactively communicate status and issues internally. Reporting also includes development and maintenance of detailed forecasting and business plan development and monitoring for the high-risk assets portfolios and team.

Establish reserves for loan losses in the assigned portfolio.Participate in the on-going design of Bank processes and team structure to provide exceptional service and to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Serve in assigned capacities as a resource for credit training, Loan Committee member, or other roles in support of the Chief Credit Officer and the Credit Teams directly serving Corporate and Commercial Markets, and Retail Offices.

  • Develop team members through coaching, training and development, opportunities, and on-going performance feedback including timely follow-up on individual development plans, counsel team members on Talent Management activities.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven track record (10+ years) of success in commercial credit leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding and experience in commercial credit proactive risk management.
  • Exceptional relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with customers and internal stakeholders alike.
