The Human Resources Manager plans, directs, and implements policies and procedures for all areas of the human resources function including staffing, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, payroll, and compliance.

This position administers and innovates human resources programs and policies that support company goals and positively engage the workforce.

To be successful, the Human Resources Manager will need to independently maintain systems and processes and provide subject matter expertise to leadership on all human resource matters.

This position is a full-time salaried, exempt position and reports to the Controller. This position is based in Portland, OR and works in one of our Portland office locations at least twice per week.

The compensation for this position ranges from $80,000 - $110,000 per year.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Manage Department Administration

  • Provide full cycle recruiting by partnering with the leadership team to understand and execute the organizational talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning
  • Process payroll accurately and on time including new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates and deductions or garnishments;

identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures

  • Design and maintain learning, development, and training programs and initiatives; leads the annual retreat, monthly manager training, and employee onboarding
  • Ensure legal compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices;

reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance

  • Manage compensation and benefits by analyzing trends; researching and proposing competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent
  • Plan, implement, and administer organizational policies and procedures
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations

Lead Department Strategy

  • Plan and implement strategic objectives that fulfill the mission and the goals of the department efficiently and effectively in collaboration with leadership team
  • Evaluate, improve, and report the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance profitability and qualitative results
  • Establish, maintain, and present reports to stakeholders
  • Engage in effective feedback systems to monitor and communicate operational and strategic alignment with interdepartmental objectives
  • Manage departmental budget and profitability metrics

Supervise Team

  • Manage staff to meet Snow Peak's expectations for goal accomplishment
  • Monitor employee work schedules and assignments
  • Develop employee career pathing by coaching, mentoring, and providing effective performance feedback; inspire a culture of learning and development
  • Communicate transparently and resolve conflicts to foster a successful team that encourages the appreciation of diverse perspectives as well as cohesiveness
  • Recruit, select, and hire team

Performs other related duties and projects as assigned

MUST HAVE

Education / Certifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Experience

5+ years of experience in human resources management

Skills

  • Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficient knowledge of compliance related laws and regulations
  • Proficient understanding of project management fundamentals
  • Advanced writing and documentation experience with demonstrated success in strategic messaging
  • Advanced expertise in excel and analytical analysis and reporting
  • Expert understanding of the financial and business acumen to drive profitability

  • Excellent leadership and management skills with ability to motivate

Physical Effort

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
