The Cumbe r land County Sheriffs Office is looking for Patrol Deputies to join our ranks! We are a very progressive law enforcement agency that promotes a Community Policing philosophy.

This position is 40 hours per week with a full benefits package. Pay is commensurate with experience and starts at $29.50 / hr.

Stipends and shift differentials are available, and for blue pins / academy certified officers we provide up to 15 YEARS in lateral credit for pay and time off as well as a $6,000 sign on bonus ! Please note, applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.

S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Our dedicated and elite Patrol Deputies :

  • Prevent crime by explaining and enforcing applicable federal, state, county, and local laws and ordinances; teaching preventative, protective, and defensive tactic s ;
  • m e diating disputes; patrolling assigned area; responding to n o tice s of disturbances; conducting searches; observing suspicious activities;

d etaining sus p ects.

  • Apprehend suspects by responding to complaints and calls for help; observing violations; making arrests.
  • Conduct criminal investigations by gathering e v idence; interviewing victims, witnesses and sus p ects.

To join us in p rotecting and serving t h e citi z e ns and visitors of towns in Cumber l and County you m ust :

  • Be at least 21 years of age or 20 years of age with 60 college credits ;
  • Hold a HS Diploma or equivalent;
  • Hold a valid Maine Drivers Licen s e;
  • Reside in the State of Maine and not more than 15 miles outside the Cumberland County border.
