Villa Academy seeks a full-time Preschool Teacher to join its team beginning August 20, 2024. This role will be a classroom teacher with access to our multi-acre outdoor space with wooded trails, a garden, an outdoor learning pavilion and a greenhouse.
This early learning educator will be a dynamic and knowledgeable classroom teacher. This is a ten-month, non-exempt position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Early Childhood Education Coordinator.
The ideal candidate is an educator with an expansive knowledge of early childhood education and an emphasis on kindergarten readiness.
The candidate will be enthusiastic, informed, engaging, and experienced in inquiry-based, student-centered learning. They will know, appreciate, and enjoy young learners and be well-versed in their developmental needs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Continue to develop an inquiry-based curriculum with an equity lens in collaborative partnership with the other Preschool teachers and the Early Childhood Education Coordinator.
- Teach a Preschool class of four-year-old students, utilizing the support and experience of a full-time classroom assistant.
- Plan and execute inquiry-based lessons in accordance with pre-Kindergarten and early learning standards.
- Cultivate a positive classroom community amongst the school’s Preschool program utilizing Villa Academy’s social-emotional learning and anti-bias curriculum.
- Partner with Preschool and Kindergarten teaching teams in cultivating Kindergarten readiness for all learners.
- Assess, evaluate, and provide feedback on student performance.
- Partner with families, colleagues, and administration to appropriately challenge and support students.
- Communicate clearly, kindly, productively, and effectively with families.
- Commit to the mission, vision, and values of Villa Academy.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- A Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with applying inquiry-based learning in early childhood educational settings.
- Knowledge and application of differentiating instruction for early learners.
- Experience with and appreciation for purposeful play, interdisciplinary, STEAM-focused, and project-based learning.
- Skill with using instructional technology effectively, including interactive whiteboards, document cameras, Google Apps for Education, and integrated student information systems.
- A willingness and enthusiasm for making Villa Academy’s outdoor spaces an integral part of the curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.
- A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.
SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS :
Anticipated salary ranges between $51,501.73 118,430.02 / year, dependent upon education and experience .
