Payroll Supervisor

Vaco is working with a client who is looking for talented and experienced Payroll Supervisor. You will support and manage all aspects of the employee payroll process from preparation, records maintenance, monthly reporting, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and payroll tax obligations.

This position is located near Glendale, Ca and pay is between $33-$50 / hr.

Responsibilities :

• Oversee all aspects of payroll processing, including salary allocations, cost transfers, payroll reconciliation, and overpayment recoveries
• Prepare Biweekly Payroll batches for all company codes and review file to reconcile payroll instructions provided by HR
• Lead the processing of all payroll transactions, including Salary Accounting Forms, additional compensation, bonus payments, and distribution payments
• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payment of employees
• Collaborate with various departments to gather and validate payroll information for new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary changes
• Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly and accurately
• Act as the departmental representative to Payroll Suspense, ensuring timely resolution of open suspense items
• Reconcile salary accounts and serve as the primary liaison between the central Payroll Accounting Office and the department's Payroll Office.
• Prepare financial reports and spreadsheets on all payments issued and interpret Payroll Reports as needed
• Coordinate with HR regarding expiring appointments
• Address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll, providing exceptional customer service and support
• Stay updated on payroll regulations, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices
• Perform additional related duties as required or assigned

Qualifications :

Strong functional Payroll knowledge and a minimum of 7 years' experience in a large payroll department processing US payroll.

Knowledge of Canada payroll and other countries is a plus.

• Knowledge of US withholding tax, related tax filings, tax policy and employment regulations as they relate to reporting in the US (required) and Canada (a plus)
• Ability to analyze and interpret payroll data, understanding trends, analyzing variances, and exercising critical thinking
• Basic understanding of accounting principles, ability to understand impact of payroll activity on financial statements and to partner with the Compensation Accounting team in analyzing and explaining P&L and Balance sheet variances
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work collaboratively and productively across teams and vendors to deliver on Payroll and Company goals
