About the Department

The School of Nursing ( SON ), located in downtown Atlanta, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to begin in August 2024.

D. Our vibrant interdisciplinary environment provides collaborative opportunities with researchers in the health professions, public health, law, health policy, and biomedical sciences as well as surrounding organizations (e.

g. CDC , Emory University Healthcare Network, Grady Health System, Morehouse School of Medicine). Additionally, there are internal research collaboration opportunities at Georgia State University, notably with the Gerontology Institute, Center for Research on Atypical Development and Learning, the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development, and the Center for Health Services Research.

Faculty rank will be determined based on candidates' prior research and teaching experience.

Position Description

Assistant / Associate Professor (Tenure-Track / Tenured) : The responsibilities include continuing a program of research on a focused topical area, securing external funds, peer-reviewed publications, and other scholarship, university and professional service, and teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs.

Other responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate student and faculty mentoring. Competitive compensation package and transition funds available.

Required Experience

Academic experience on the tenure track, involving teaching, research, and service at a higher education institution, is required for a minimum of one year for the rank of Assistant Professor and seven years for the rank of Associate Professor.

Candidates should demonstrate a focused research area through publications and other scholarly activities.

Required Education

Ph.D. or equivalent research doctoral degree in nursing or relevant areas.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience

Candidates with experience as a nurse researcher with active extramural funding or a documented record of securing such funding is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations, etc

Georgia RN license / license eligible.

Pre-Employment Requirements

A Criminal History Check is required.

Work Hours

Position may require non-standard hours (including day, evening, online, hybrid,

weekend and / or other campus locations).

Commensurate with experience
