Position Summary

NRDC is seeking a Board Relations Coordinator in our New York office to provide critical administrative and special projects support to the Director of Board Relations and the Board Relations team.

Reporting to the Director of Board Relations, the Coordinator will play a vital role in overseeing a complex scheduling process for meetings involving senior leadership, trustees, and committees, and other key stakeholders involved in board matters, and will provide a wide range of day-to-day administrative support to the Director and the team.

The Coordinator will also assist with priority Board Relations projects, including drafting communications and memos, maintaining databases and trackers, and spearheading small projects.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, quick learner, and has an excellent ability to prioritize assignments and projects to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.

The individual in this role must be a skilled collaborator with exceptional judgment, discretion, and tact, and must be deadline-driven and comfortable working independently.

Excellent research, writing, interpersonal, and project coordination skills are required, along with superior attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Manage high-level administrative needs of the Board Relations team as they relate to supporting the work of NRDC's Board of Trustees, Board Committees, Task Forces, and communications.

  • Support will include complex calendar management and scheduling, drafting correspondence, data management, file maintenance, invoice and expense reporting, and special projects.
  • Provide administrative support for the Board Chair and their office.
  • Help manage relationships with, and communications to, individual board members and stakeholders.
  • Effectively liaise with venues and vendors and manage the contracting process for board events.
  • Assist the team in drafting, editing, formatting and proofreading memos, presentations, correspondence, and other materials.
  • Coordinate and assist in the management of special projects related to furthering the work of the Board.
  • Organize and coordinate internal team meetings and retreats, including scheduling and technology needs.
  • Coordinate mailings of materials, gifts, and swag.
  • Provide ad-hoc, hands-on support for a variety of projects and roles.
  • Be an accessible, collaborative, roll-up-the-sleeves problem solver.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of administrative and scheduling experience required.
  • Experience supporting multiple team members while juggling competing priorities and projects at the same time.

Skills, Abilities, Competencies

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, problem solver with a proven ability to deliver high-quality results and meet deadlines.
  • Strong skills in PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel for in-person board meetings and events and to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Must have superior interpersonal skills and a high attention to detail.
  • Excellent project management and project coordination skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience using Salesforce, Sharepoint, BoardEffect, Asana, and Concur a plus.
  • Ability to travel to NRDC U.S. based offices, approximately 10-15% annually

Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position, the salary range is $70,000 to $77,000 .

Our offices are open and we are operating in a hybrid model. We offer NRDCers flexibility, and we ask them to come into the office and spend meaningful time there in collaboration with their colleagues.
