Within the Office of the Dean of Students in the Division of Student Affairs, the Director of Parent and Family Programs serves as an advocate for parents and the University, both internally and externally, by facilitating communication in a cooperative capacity and creating a climate that fosters mutual understanding.

Working closely with Divisional colleagues and school-based counterparts, the position develops and implements University-wide programs and services that inform and educate parents and families about valuable resources, critical issues, and topics relevant to student success.

Qualifications

Required Education :

Bachelor's Degree in Student Affairs Administration, Counseling, or Higher Education

Preferred Education :

Master's Degree

Required Experience :

7+ years of experience. Must include experience in student affairs, developing programs in a higher education setting, and community development.

Experience in enrollment management, communications, alumni relations, student activities, orientation, and / or academic advising is highly desired.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities :

Excellent listening, written, public speaking, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to offer exceptional client service and problem solve in a cooperative capacity.

Professionalism and diplomacy skills are essential. Effective cultural competence and interpersonal skills surrounding inclusion, diversity, belonging, equity, and accessibility.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities :

Understanding of the modern standards and practices of ombuds roles in higher education. Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with parents / families of college students, including knowledge of FERPA and other applicable laws.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $100,000.00 to USD $115,000.

This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
