Job Overview : We are looking for a committed and innovative Special Education Teacher to join our educational team in Jerome, Idaho.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing tailored instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring their academic and personal growth.
This role involves close collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to foster an inclusive and effective learning environment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
- Modify and adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
- Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths, challenges, and educational needs.
- Track and document student progress, maintaining detailed and accurate records.
- Work alongside general education teachers to integrate special education students into mainstream classrooms when appropriate.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns.
- Guide and support teaching assistants and paraprofessionals in the delivery of special education services.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of current trends and best practices in special education.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Idaho teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement (K-12).
- Successful completion of the Praxis II exam(s) in Special Education.
- Comprehensive understanding of special education laws, regulations, and practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of educators and support staff.
- Experience in developing and executing IEPs.
Licensure and Certification Requirements :
- Idaho Standard Instructional Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
- Required Praxis II exam(s) passed.
- Background check and fingerprint clearance as mandated by the Idaho State Department of Education.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Masters degree in Special Education or a related discipline.
- Prior experience working with a diverse range of disabilities.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and its application in educational settings.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Capacity to sit, stand, and maneuver within the classroom environment for extended periods.
- Physical capability to implement interventions and manage the physical demands associated with student needs.
Work Environment :
