The Program Manager – GHI (ISS) is responsible for managing the International Service program for employees, physicians, residents, fellows, and volunteers who participate in international outreach, projects, and trips abroad on behalf of Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) and Adventist Health International (AHI). Supports collaborative service programs with the General Conference – Loma Linda office. Performs other duties as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Health related area required. Master’s Degree preferred. Minimum three years of work experience in Project Management, health care, international mission assignment / work, or study abroad required. Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge of international travel planning, visas, work permits and professional licensure requirements. Knowledge of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church organizational structure, processes and affiliated organizations of the General Conference. Knowledge of current national and international issues that may affect institutional travel and influence LLUH international partner sites. Understand roles and classifications of professions in healthcare. Broad understanding of world geography and routing for travel. Passion and interest in international service and helping others. Business may be conducted by phone, email, or teleconference at odd hours to accommodate differences in time zones and to meet critical deadlines. Able to read, write and speak in English with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g. CMS platforms, Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Access, Agile Point, LLUH Travel Portal, Mission Personnel Processing Committee Portal, Interdivision Employees Portal, Microsoft Teams, ZOOM; operate and troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; maintain strict confidentiality; maintains sensitivity and discretion in working with other cultures; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure and changing priorities; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; self-motivated to lead in finding and developing stories and opportunities. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
