Senior Project Engineer (Remote - US)

This role offers an opportunity to lead cybersecurity and secure communications engineering for high-visibility Department of Defense programs. The Senior Project Engineer will oversee the design, implementation, and lifecycle support of enterprise and airborne communication systems, ensuring they remain secure, resilient, and fully accredited. The position requires hands-on technical expertise, program management skills, and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders. You will provide subject-matter expertise in RPA communications, network security, and SATCOM systems while driving RMF compliance, risk management, and operational readiness. The successful candidate will influence critical decision-making, guide team performance, and ensure mission-critical systems meet rigorous DoD standards.

Accountabilities

As Senior Project Engineer, you will :

• Serve as Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE), overseeing cybersecurity accreditation and lifecycle support for enterprise and airborne communication systems.
• Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), CONOPS, Configuration Management Plans (CMPs), POA&Ms, and related documentation using eMASS, XACTA, and Blade Risk Manager.
• Lead vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and risk analysis for complex systems including RPAs, SATCOM, ACNs, and Squadron Operations Centers.
• Engineer, install, and maintain secure networks and communications systems, ensuring cybersecurity compliance, configuration control, and operational readiness.
• Act as a subject-matter expert for RPA communications, test center, and squadron operations environments.
• Support design reviews, system upgrades, and technology integration; draft and review RFPs, SOWs, task orders, and technical diagrams.
• Manage multi-million-dollar classified networks and operational environments, including personnel and contractors supporting Network Operations Centers.
• Draft standard operating procedures, checklists, and training documentation to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
• Provide project management support including cost, schedule, risk, and reporting to senior leadership.
• Prepare program status reports, monthly metrics, and technical briefings for DoD stakeholders.
