SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Senior Manager, Operations will plan and oversee the daily operations of the organization to ensure goals and objectives are achieved. They are responsible for the day-to-day tasks associated with the manufacturing of our products, including setting plans, monitoring productivity, motivating team members and delivering results for set shift. Providing set up of the production lines and materials at end of shift that facilitates effective start-up of the next shift. Assuring that our customers are getting a product that meets all of the specifications and quality standards that have been developed for the product and that we are following all of the procedural guidelines set by the company or its customers. Responsible for adhering to SOPs and current GMPs that are in effect assuring employee safety and the quality of product produced.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Hires and trains new employees.
- Managing all production and product packaging activities while ensuring compliance with all quality and environmental standards
- Manage effective daily start of operations and raw materials inventory needed for production
- Establish and align expectations and goals and hold employees accountable for achieving these goals
- Oversees the production process to ensure delivery of high-quality products that meet or exceed customers needs.
- Collaborates with the customer service and sales departments to identify and resolve quality concerns.
- Lead productivity improvement processes to improve manufacturing operations
- Generate and communicate performance metrics
- Maintain safe, clean work environment, and implement safety / housekeeping, health, and environmental programs
- Manages, coaches, motivates, and leads production employees
- Reviews previous shift production reports, current raw materials inventories, and resolves operational problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays while ensuring appropriate production rate to reduce delivery delays
- Analyze production schedules and estimates labor requirements for completion of job to communicated team hours required
- Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned staff.
- Coordinate assignments and adjusts procedures to meet production schedules, using knowledge of capacities of machines and equipment
- Manages general safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations
- Ensures that operators are being trained in accordance with work instructions
- Assures that all assigned work orders are completed
- Assures that all production and quality reports are completed
- Input daily production and report scrap into electronic reporting system
- Responsible for safety on the production floor
- Should perform all duties in compliance with GMP requirements
- Conducts daily meetings to review daily activity with direct and indirect personnel
- Assists in developing and implementing procedures to improve efficiency
- Provides performance feedback, job coaching, direct supervision and disciplinary action to ensure compliance with management policies, procedures and safety rules and regulations
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
- Complete Layered Audits every shift and put corrective actions in place as needed
- Coordinates with other support departments such as human resources, finance, and logistics to ensure successful production operations.
- This position will primarily focus on Pre-Weigh, Compounding, and Hot Pour operations.
- Other tasks as assigned by the VP of Operations or any other member of management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans and organizes daily activities related to production and operations.Measures productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports.Determines labor needs to meet production goals.Assists with budget preparation for operations unit.Ensure reviews of all Kit lists, has material pulled for all work orders, and reviews that sufficient quantities are available to complete the work order 4 to 24 hours before the Work Order is due to go on line;Works with the VP of Operations and Production Supervisors to create a production schedule for each lineEnsures that employees complete the work orders correctly the first time to avoid re-worksWalks the production lines reviewing each workstation and worker to ensure that the Product Specifications and Production Goals are being metEnsures all work order forms and related documentation are completed in a timely mannerEnsures that new groups of employees are trained pertaining to our quality assurance policies, procedures and documentation requirementsMonitor, audit and enforce good manufacturing practices (GMP's) within the plantManage training of our production personnel in the use of our Standard Operating Procedures and formsReview your own Job Description and the Job Descriptions of workers in the department on a semi-annual basis to make sure that everyone is meeting the responsibilities of their jobTurn off all equipment, machinery, and lights at the end of the day and ensure that the plant is properly secured, including start-up and shutdown of equipmentPerforms other related duties as required.MEETING PARTICIPATION
Required to participate in production and company rhythm meetings.Any others as requested.AUTHORITY
This position reports to the VP of Operations and is a position with direct authority to stop production if it is found that Quality Standards or Operating Procedures are not being followed.
The position closely collaborates with Purchasing, Sales, Shipping, Warehouse, Production Planning, and the Lab.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
All production staff; supervisors, line leads, and line workers.
CLASSIFICATION
This is a full-time exempt role.
EDUCATION
Bachelors degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field required; M.B.A. preferred.Certification through the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM) preferred.WORK EXPERIENCE
Five years of related experience required.3+ years consumer goods plant management experience in a manufacturing environment.OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.Ability to multitask and follow- up when response is neededUnderstanding of SOPs and GMPs.Prefer demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude.Basic mathematical skills.Ability to motivate employees and create a Team spirit with a “yes we can” attitude.SPECIAL DEMANDS
Physical ability to lift, stand, climb, and bend within a manufacturing environment. Including, but not limited to;
