Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position with a focus on oncology patients and flexibility in scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Med / Surg Telemetry unit with an oncology patient population
  • Majority of patients require continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration or symptom management
  • Patient ratio is 1 : 4
  • Utilizes B450 monitors, GE telemetry system, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
  • Uses Epic EMR, and Epic experience is required
  • Night shifts, 3x12 hour schedule, 19 : 00-07 : 30
  • No set schedule or weekends; schedule is assigned by the facility and requires flexibility
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Oncology experience is preferred but not required
  • Primary duties include managing comorbidities, infection prevention, and fall prevention in oncology patients
  • Must adhere strictly to infection prevention protocols
  • Must be prepared for urgent Ohio fingerprinting upon contract signing
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible if separated from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees at OSU hospitals are not eligible for traveler roles

    • Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Current BCLS certification required
  • Epic experience required
  • Ability to interpret dysrhythmias
  • Skills in accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line care, IV starts, assisting with chest tube insertion / removal, high flow nasal cannula use, and ABG interpretation
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a supervisor or manager
