Job Details
We are seeking a Senior Mission Operations Specialist to own daily constellation and payload operations while driving strategic integration and roadmap execution for the Mission Operations Platform. This role blends hands-on operational responsibility with program-level leadership, coordinating across Engineering, Program Management, and external vendors to ensure mission readiness, operational excellence, and continuous improvement of the space systems.
Key Responsibilities :
Execute daily constellation and payload operations (tasking, configuration updates, real-time anomaly triage).
Maintain two-person integrity for command approvals and uploads.
Monitor system health and performance, interpret telemetry, and escalate anomalies.
Manage operational timelines, balancing internal testing and customer-facing activities.
Maintain operational runbooks, SOPs, and decision support materials.
Serve as the operational point of contact with spacecraft vendors.
Document and track API requirements, feature requests, and integration timelines.
Partner with engineering to implement SpaceOps APIs and deliver dashboards / tooling.
Define and prioritize Mission Operations Platform features with Program Management and Engineering.
Generate user stories and acceptance criteria for operational tooling.
Drive long-term constellation optimization planning and report performance metrics.
Basic Qualifications :
7+ years in mission operations, satellite systems engineering, or related aerospace role.
Experience operating spacecraft or payloads in commercial / government environments.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional and vendor-facing initiatives.
Familiarity with ground segment systems, API-based operations, telemetry analysis.
Strong project management skills.
Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strongly Desired :
Satellite operations and commercial mission control systems experience.
Background in payload ops, RF communications, telemetry / command.
Familiarity with software development workflows, Jira, Confluence.
Exposure to mission operations platforms, dashboarding / analytics tools.
Startup or rapid-iteration operational environment experience.
