- Basic Qualifications
- An associate's degree or greater in any field
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a project manager in a construction field
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both written and verbal
- Ability to perform physical construction work, such as accurately measuring and using measuring implements, cutting, joining, and lifting lumber and metal, nailing shingles, and constructing structures or structural components on job sites
- Two years of experience with residential steep-slope roofing and commercial flat roofing
- Time management skills
- Proficiency with computers, word processing applications, email, spreadsheets and presentation software
- Understanding of construction, roofing, and related fields
- Good driving record and driver’s license, with ability to pull and drive with trailers and secure loads
- Physical ability to lift 80 lbs semi-regularly and to twist, bend and move athletically and consistently in all directions
- Ability to comfortably walk on sloped surfaces of all slopes, at extreme heights
- Ability to work in all conditions and all weather (as OSHA and safety guidelines allow)

- Duties of a Project Manager
The project manager is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of roofing projects (or related construction projects), from initial assessment to final completion. Their role focuses on ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, safely, and to the client’s satisfaction.
Key duties typically include :
- Project Planning and Assessment
- : Reviews scope and specifications for signed contracts and compares those with on-site conditions and production goals. Prior to construction, inspects the site for conditions and damage, takes photos, determines scope, recommends materials, and prepares detailed estimates for costs, timelines, and resources.
- Budgeting and Financial Oversight
- : Develops and manages project budgets, reviews contracts, tracks expenses, handles change orders, and ensures financial performance aligns with estimates to avoid overruns.
- Scheduling and Coordination
- : Creates and adjusts schedules for crews, subcontractors, and material deliveries; coordinates resources like labor, equipment, and supplies; and plans around disruptions such as weather delays.
- Crew and Workforce Management
- : Supervises roofers, foremen, and subcontractors on-site; assigns tasks, provides daily targets, resolves issues, and ensures efficient workflow; may advise on hiring skilled workers. Effectively leads and develops crewmembers who report to the project manager.
- Safety and Compliance
- : Enforces safety protocols (e.g., OSHA guidelines, protective gear), conducts training, manages risks, and ensures adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, including permits and inspections.
- Logistics Support
- : Expedites and / or delivers material necessary to keep production on-task and efficient. Delivers dump trailers and garbage receptacles, roofing materials, carpentry materials, tools and other project resources to job sites.
- Quality Control
- : Inspects work for defects, monitors work progress for standards like layout and correct installation, conducts post-installation reviews, and ensure the final project meets quality and code requirements.
- Client Communication and Education
- : Meets and communicates with homeowners to explain issues, propose solutions, provide updates on progress, handle concerns, and secure approvals or signatures for agreements and changes.
- Post-Project Tasks
- : Oversees cleanup of debris, performs final inspections, documents completion, and evaluates project performance for future improvements.
- Administrative and Technical Support
- : Uses software for project tracking, maintains records of communications, interprets drawings, and builds relationships with partners like suppliers and other tradespeople.
The position focuses on efficient execution while minimizing risks and maximizing profitability.
