Senior Payroll Specialist
The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for payroll operations, garnishments, and taxable fringe benefits. The role involves payroll processing, ensuring compliance with payroll related regulations, resolving issues or discrepancies, reporting, and training other payroll professionals.
Essential Functions :
- Enter, transmit, and report assigned hourly / salary payrolls for multiple locations and states.
- Crosstrain other payroll users on the full process of semi-monthly and weekly payroll for multiple business units.
- Follow established payroll-related policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ensure all payroll activities comply with state and federal laws.
- Resolve inquiries from employees arising from interpretations of payroll regulations.
- Address and resolve payroll-related issues and discrepancies.
- Complete all hourly / salary payroll reporting requirements as needed.
- Generate regular and ad-hoc payroll reports for management.
- Maintain accurate payroll records.
- Balance assigned payroll accounts by auditing information, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and completing payroll journal entries.
- Conduct training sessions for other payroll professionals on payroll policies and procedures.
- Utilize corporate systems with authorized pay rates for both hourly and salary personnel.
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, rationalize work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality and seamless customer service.
- Participate in internal and external audits regarding payroll-related requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Training :
An associates degree in a payroll-related field is required.A bachelor's degree or higher in a payroll related field is preferred.Payroll related certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FCP) are preferred.Minimum Qualifications :
A minimum of 3 years' experience in a payroll or related role.Ability to travel on rare occasions as needed.Experience with a payroll processing system.Ability to address and resolve payroll-related issues.Effective communication skills for liaising with employees, management, and other departments.Flexibility to cross train with other accounting functions.Technical knowledge in using Microsoft tools such as, but not limited to, Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
