Salary Range : $50,000-$60,000

Job Summary :

The Gifts Officer is responsible for seeking out opportunities and developing and implementing initiatives to identify, cultivate, and solicit a portfolio of individuals and family foundations to meet annual and capital campaign goals, and ensure a strong and growing base of financial support for the Museum.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 125-150 major gift prospects (giving capacity of $25,000+ for capital campaign and $1,000+ for annual fund)
  • Make face-to-face presentations to donors and coordinate involvement from President, Sr. VP of Development, board members and volunteers, and other staff as needed
  • Demonstrate a keen sense of curiosity for donors by asking the right questions; demonstrate ability to personally adapt as needed to meet the needs of donors
  • Work with Director of Institutional Giving and Donor Communications to customize proposals and presentations as needed for donor meetings
  • Solicit portfolio donors to perpetuate their giving through planned gifts to meet annual commitment goals

General Responsibilities :

  • Support Development Team in developing annual strategic plan objectives
  • Participate in departmental and Gift Officer meetings
  • Attend Membership and Development department events as assigned (approx 15-25 events annually on evenings and some weekends)
  • Represent the Museum and carry out responsibilities using independent professional judgement in a positive and professional manner in keeping with the leadership level of this visible position.

Lead by example in enthusiasm, integrity, and confidentiality

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university; 2+ years of fundraising experience and progressive non-profit Development experience
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced and deadline driven portfolio
  • Excellent writing, communication, organizational, and research skills
  • Computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications
