The Digital Advertising Strategy Manager is a key member of a high-performing marketing department whose mission is to increase visibility of Rowan University among future and current students, parents, and other university constituents, and provide compelling experiences and ongoing engagement.
The Digital Advertising Strategy Manager is vital to the successful development, deployment, scaling, and optimization of a dynamic digital advertising strategy, which serves a key role in achieving the aggressive marketing and growth goals for the University.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Digital Marketing & Analytics, the Digital Advertising Strategy Manager works closely with marketing campaign strategists, external agency and vendor partners, and analytics team members to drive inquiries and applications using paid media campaigns involving targeted search, display and video advertising, remarketing, and geotargeting.
This individual will focus on optimizing campaign performance based on key metrics, ensuring maximum return on investment across platforms like Google, Bing, Facebook, and LinkedIn, and monitoring agency performance to evaluate campaign effectiveness while making data-informed recommendations for continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement overarching digital advertising strategies across Google, Bing, Facebook, and LinkedIn platforms with the goal of achieving recruitment marketing and enrollment goals.
- Act as a primary liaison with external digital advertising agencies, providing clear objectives, feedback, and strategic guidance, and overseeing the development, execution, and monitoring of all paid media campaigns.
- Collaborate with Market Research team to identify trends, audience behaviors, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Strategy team to ensure cohesive alignment between campaign goals, advertising strategies, brand messaging, and enrollment objectives.
- Execute detailed A / B testing on ad creatives, targeting parameters, and ad placements to refine and enhance overall campaign performance.
- Implement advanced targeting and segmentation strategies to maximize audience reach and engagement.
- Monitor and analyze campaign metrics in real-time, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing adjustments accordingly.
- Stay informed about platform updates, algorithm changes, and industry trends to proactively adapt strategies and maintain optimal campaign performance.
- Present and deliver comprehensive reports to leadership team, showcasing key performance indicators (KPIs) and actionable insights.
- Implement data-driven strategies to optimize conversion funnels, improve user experience, and increase enrollment-related goals.
- Develop and monitor digital advertising budgets effectively, ensuring maximum return on investment (ROI) for each campaign.
- Analyze budget allocation based on performance metrics, adjusting strategies to optimize spending and maximize outcomes.
- Provide strategic recommendations for budget adjustments and investment priorities based on campaign performance and university enrollment goals.
- Utilize budget forecasting and scenario analysis to inform long-term digital advertising strategies and financial planning.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on campaign performance to enhance overall enrollment strategies.
Qualifications
Required
- Master's Degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in the marketing field, with an emphasis on digital advertising
- Experience managing and optimizing campaigns on platforms in Facebook Ads, Google Ads LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and others, from creation to optimization to analysis.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations.
- Knowledge of search engine optimization best practices and demonstrated website and keyword optimization skills
- Experience with web-based and digital communication and engagement
- Experience managing and optimizing digital advertising budgets effectively.
- Significant experience with digital marketing and advertising platforms such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, Google Optimize, and Google Tag Manager
- Demonstrated commitment to staying current with web and digital best practices, and learning new technology skills and platforms
- Outstanding writing and editing skills
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds.
Preferred
- Digital agency experience
- Higher Education experience
- Experience with project management tools a plus (e.g. Basecamp, Asana, Wrike, etc.)
- Digital advertising certifications (Facebook Ads, Google Ads, Google Analytics, etc.)

Residency Requirements
Rowan University is subject to the residency requirements of the NJ First Act (N.J.S.A. 52 : 14-7, P.L. 2011, Chapter 70).
Any person hired to a non-exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey or have one (1) year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
Any person hired to an exempt position shall either have their principal residence in New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York or have ninety (90) days from the date of employment to establish, then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, or New York.
