Purchasing Buyer

Port of Catoosa, OK

Responsibilities :

• Purchase and negotiate materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.
• Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers.
• Manage all supplier-related activities and have the authority to commit company resources.
• Forecast data and monitor supplier quality and delivery performance.
• Track internal demand and material assets to optimize purchases.
• Incorporate planning decisions from internal customers and suppliers to reduce variability and achieve optimal solutions at the lowest total cost.
• Supplier Management :
• Develop requests for quotations (RFQs) and proposals.
• Analyze supplier responses and negotiate terms.
• Manage day-to-day supplier activities and expedite deliveries.
• Coordinate job requirements with engineering and sales teams.

Ethics and Values :

• Demonstrate integrity with strong business and personal ethics.
• Engage suppliers strategically and control operating cash flow.
• Utilize contract language to recover supplier-induced costs.
• Skills and Abilities :
• Conflict resolution and coaching abilities.
• Drive and implement change as needed.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
• Accept responsibility and find solutions when challenges arise.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, and management.

Qualifications :

MRO Purchasing Buyer : ($60,000+) Associate’s degree preferred or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.

3-5 of related experience as a buyer or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related industry.

Expert Level Purchasing Buyer : ($86,000+) Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Administration, or ten (10) years of procurement experience and / or training;

or equivalent combination of education and experience.
