Purchasing Buyer
Port of Catoosa, OK
Responsibilities :
- Purchase and negotiate materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.
- Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers.
- Manage all supplier-related activities and have the authority to commit company resources.
- Forecast data and monitor supplier quality and delivery performance.
- Track internal demand and material assets to optimize purchases.
- Incorporate planning decisions from internal customers and suppliers to reduce variability and achieve optimal solutions at the lowest total cost.
- Supplier Management :
- Develop requests for quotations (RFQs) and proposals.
- Analyze supplier responses and negotiate terms.
- Manage day-to-day supplier activities and expedite deliveries.
- Coordinate job requirements with engineering and sales teams.
Ethics and Values :
- Demonstrate integrity with strong business and personal ethics.
- Engage suppliers strategically and control operating cash flow.
- Utilize contract language to recover supplier-induced costs.
- Skills and Abilities :
- Conflict resolution and coaching abilities.
- Drive and implement change as needed.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Accept responsibility and find solutions when challenges arise.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, and management.
Qualifications :
MRO Purchasing Buyer : ($60,000+) Associate’s degree preferred or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
3-5 of related experience as a buyer or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related industry.
Expert Level Purchasing Buyer : ($86,000+) Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Administration, or ten (10) years of procurement experience and / or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
