We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in managing the firm's financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and legal regulations.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with attorneys, partners, and administrative staff.

Our ideal candidate enjoys problem solving with team members and can effectively communicate with payer contacts. The ability to prioritize is essential to this position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
• Assist with daily activity processing, month, and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and financial statements.
• Conduct periodic audits of financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
• Respond to inquiries from attorneys, clients, and vendors regarding financial matters in a timely and professional manner.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and legal regulations relevant to the legal industry.
• Act as a primary back up to the Accounts Payable Specialist and Accounts Receivable Specialist.
• Team with the Partners, Accounting Manager and Controller on accounting related issues.
• Ad-hoc projects as needed.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Proficiency in law firm accounting software (Aderant, 3E) and Microsoft Excel preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of legal billing processes and software is a plus.
• Ability to work independently.
• Law firm background desired.
