Salary : $95,000 - $100,000

Location : Primarily based out of our Denver office at 711 Park Ave W, Denver, CO 80205. 3 days / week in office, 2 days / week remote

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this position is $95,000 - $100,000.

In an effort to increase equity and to avoid unfair bias historically associated with salary negotiations, we do not participate in salary negotiations outside of this stated starting salary range.

How You'll Help

This position is responsible for providing leadership for the growth of major and principal donors portfolios at Mile High United Way.

Reporting to the Vice President, Community Giving & Engagement, and working alongside passionate development professionals, this Senior Director will establish, grow, and strengthen relationships with prospective donors.

This role will work with executive level volunteers to build donor relationships and meet funding goals, and will cultivate, educate, solicit, and steward major gifts in support of Mile High United Way's mission and initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of existing and potential donors and a strategy to enhance and extend relationships to generate philanthropic revenue.
  • Grow annual revenue from individual donors through relationship-based fundraising and strategic moves management, with an emphasis on long-term stewardship and engagement.
  • Organize and lead meetings with existing and potential donors to raise awareness of Mile High United Way's mission and highlight accomplishments and ongoing funding needs.
  • Create individual engagement, stewardship plans and giving goals for each donor based on giving history, relationship and the organization's knowledge of the donor's giving potential.
  • Use processes, templates, systems and software to track donors and prospects, and assess fundraising metrics.
  • Identify and build relationships with potential donors by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network and the network of Mile High United Way.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, help to shape the organization's unique selling proposition and differentiator for major investors.
  • Collaborate and partner with team members managing corporate partnerships to build relationships with top level executives, as well as current and potential donors.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Use of tracking tools to ensure operational excellence and consistency, including Outlook, Salesforce, Teams and Excel.

What You'll Need : Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; High School Diploma / GED required.
  • 7-10 years successful experience in fundraising, sales, major gift fundraising management, and one-on-one solicitation.

Proven solicitation experience of gifts $50,000 and higher and experience closing multi-year gifts preferred.

  • Demonstrated volunteer management experience at high levels of an organization.
  • Additional successful experience in funds development including, proposal writing, prospect research, volunteer management, annual individual giving campaigns, capital campaigns, and donor cultivation and recognition.

Special Skills / Knowledge :

  • A true people person with an outgoing nature; a self-starter that is driven by results.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, organizing day-to-day tasks as well as large projects both individually and as part of a team.
  • Well organized, prepared, and detail oriented.
  • Strong writing and speaking skills that can be used to compel individuals to action.
  • Ability to set and achieve short and long-term goals.
  • Ability to manage and motivate executive level volunteers and staff to achieve fundraising and organizational goals.
  • High degree of personal responsibility and integrity.
  • Knowledge of community donor, foundation, and volunteer base preferred, but not required.

Computer Skills :

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Proficient in Salesforce with ability to learn new skills quickly and effectively

Working Environment : Typical office environment, with frequent travel to local meetings; occasional need to attend events and meetings outside of normal business hours

Physical Activities : Operates a computer and phone for extended periods of time, able to provide personal transportation for local out-of-office meetings.
